Installing Transifyr on macOS
Transifyr is officially signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple. Follow this guide to install the universal build on Apple Silicon or Intel Macs and resolve permission issues if they occur.
Install the application
- Download the latest Transifyr.dmg file.
- Open the DMG file.
- Drag Transifyr.app into the Applications folder.
Launch the application for the first time
Open Transifyr from the Applications folder and confirm the standard macOS first-launch prompt.
If macOS blocks the application from opening:
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security.
- Scroll down to the security message about Transifyr.
- Click Open Anyway.
- Launch Transifyr again and click Open when prompted.
Allow the required permissions
When requested, allow Transifyr access to:
- Microphone for microphone transcription.
- Screen & System Audio Recording for system-audio transcription.
Reset Transifyr permissions
If a permission prompt does not appear, quit Transifyr completely and run these commands in Terminal:
tccutil reset ScreenCapture com.transifyr.translate
tccutil reset Microphone com.transifyr.translate These commands reset permissions only for Transifyr. Launch the app again and use the microphone or system-audio feature to trigger a new permission request.
Restart after changing permissions
- Quit Transifyr completely and launch it again.
- When macOS asks for permission, click Allow.
If no permission prompt appears
Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and make sure Transifyr is enabled under:
- Screen & System Audio Recording
- Microphone
If Transifyr is not listed, run the permission reset commands again, restart the application, and use the microphone or system-audio feature to trigger a new permission request.
